I would actually rather give you guys my top ten list. Is that cool? Alright good. I promise to keep the reasons short.

10. Sleepers

This movie was based on the book about four boys that go to juvenile hall for accidentally killing a man, only to be put in traumatizing situations during their stay causing them to take action as adults. One of the best stories played out stories I have ever seen and the movie stars Brad Pitt and Robert De Niro, a combo you can't go wrong with.

9. The Fast & The Furious

I have to admit, I'm not that much of a car guy. But I still loved this movie and continue to love it. It had to go on the last due to the fact that when I recently watched it I was quoting a majority of the lines.

8. Crash

One of the first times I have ever seen a movie talk people that look like they have nothing to do with each other and weave them all together. When I watch shows or movies like that now, I say they are pulling a Crash.

7. Collateral

One of the most underrated movies I know starring Jamie Foxx and Tom Cruise. Takes place in Los Angeles in one night and is simply amazing.

6. Man on Fire

It was actually hard to pick one Denzel Washington movie because the man is a legend. But Man on Fire I do believe is his best work (Training Day is a close second). This movie took so many turns, I was drained by the end of it. In a good way.

5. Saw

The series may have turned in to a joke by now, but nothing will ever replace the night my future roommate and I decided to see a little known movie called Saw over The Grudge. I will never forget the theater jumping up and clapping during certain parts and the silent car ride home.

4. Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl

I admit, this movie got me to notice Johnny Depp. I was late to the party, but trust me in that I made up for it. To this day, it's one of the best looking movies I have ever seen and one I still like to get lost in.

3. (500) Days of Summer

It was so... real. It was unlike any movie I had ever seen and instantly shot up to my favorites. REALLY makes me want to meet a girl while listening to music. And it has some of the best lines ever. Example: "It's love, not Santa Claus."

2. Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy

I don't think I have ever laughed so hard as the first time I saw this movie. I could still put it in today and even knowing exactly what's coming will still laugh from a good healthy place. Simply put, it's a comedic classic.

1. Fight Club

This movie is, and always will be #1 because it dominates in every category. The acting, music, story, visuals... everything you can think of was on point. Plus, if you go into it not knowing anything about it like I did, it was one of the best twists in history. This movie forever changed my preferences in movies and actually changed my life a little bit. I know this, because Tyler knows this.

  1. Called it!! I knew it was fight club!! I definitely approve of number 2 and YOU KNOW I LOVE #3!!! All in all, I love this list. I'm so glad (500) Days didn't disappoint after how much I hyped it! haha

  2. I've only seen your top 4. Not sure any of those would be in my top 10. I liked (500) Days of Summer - but I honestly didn't really like Zooey Deschanel's character. I liked the movie overall - style-wise - but I really thought she was cold and the movie left me feeling really sad.

    Anyways, that is a discussion for another day.

  3. Can we still be friends even though I haven't seen like half of these movies? I feel like a bad movie lover. :/

  4. Firstly, HOW CAN YOU ONLY HAVE ONE JOHNNY MOVIE?!?! AND AT NUMBER FOUR??? THAT'S TOTALLY CHEATING ON MR. DEPP!!!
    Anyways, moving on from THAT. My little recap on your choices: Sleepers, never heard of it. The Fast and the Furious, never saw nor had the desire to see. Crash and Collateral, never heard of. Saw, good choice, I used to love those, and definately better than The Grudge. Pirates of the Carribean, love. Of course. (500) Days of Summer, my favorite of your favorites. Definately very, very real. So a movie I could relate to. Anchorman, it makes me laugh. Laughing is good. Fight Club, I didn't even see this till I was 20, like 10 years or something after it came out. But I love it.
    Anyways, there's my recap. That you didn't even have to ask for (you're welcome).

  5. ah--I thought you were flaking on day two but you come back with an evening post. Keeping me on my toes fo sho.

    Fight Club is amazing. I'm slightly stung that Office Space is not on there. Which makes me think you haven't seen it yet. BB FAIL. :) Just kidding. I still adore you. But am going to insist you see that in full very soon.

    I love Anchorman. I wanted to work on the news because of this movie. Fast & the Furious. Yeah. This was good but what makes me laugh is that on our very first date...I got stuck watching this with Matt and his friends. *sigh* Let me just sum that up with I learned a LOT about the male species during the course of that movie. And the subsequent porn dvd that came after. Most random first date ever.

    I have never seen Saw because I'm the biggest fucking pussy when it comes to anything that could maybe be scary. This is a girl who hid in a bathroom during most of Scream. The original. Don't laugh.

  7. @jeanette:
    No disappointment. I've even passed it on to some of my friends. Glad you knew me well enough to call it

    @Allison:
    that can be a discussion for any day. I think her being cold is what led to the movie being so real. I loved her in the beginning but was not so happy with her in the end. Something I could identify with...

    and, I'm just happy you're looking forward to anything. Hopefully I don't disappoint.

    @Lisa:
    We can, but get on em! You should add it to your list of things to do this summer: "Watch movies Mr O recommends" haha

    @Sara:
    I never flake. Well, sometimes. And I did watch Office Space. I was going to write about it in my movie blog but never got around to it. I have to say, it probably wouldn't have been in my top 50. Maybe if I would have watched it at a different time period, such as when it came out or something, but I just don't think I can call it a "favorite." If you ever read this reply, I'm sorry.

    @Jaime:
    I didn't ask for it, yet I am thankful for what is probably your longest comment ever. So, thank you. Would it make up if I said that, by far, Johnny Depp is my favorite actor? I loved all your feedback and all I can say is you should definitely attempt to watch Crash and Collateral. At least Crash.

  8. AH!!! Well I think now that you are working in an office (kind of) you might "get" more of the humor. The job I just quit? Had I burned down the building it would have been EXACTLY like Office Space. And I have to agree-- doing nothing is exactly what I thought it would be and more. And I took my red swingline stapler from those bitches too.

    But it's ok---I'm just clutching my heart RIGHT NOW and hoping it doesn't go into heart attack. ;) xo

  9. Fight Club is brilliant. Good pick. Not sure if it would be my number one, but it's definitely somewhere on my top ten list.

  10. you lost me at crash [imo completely 100% overrated and overwrought, then again i've spent 4 years studying race&ethnic relations] but pulled me right back in with anchorman and fight club :)

  11. I just knew fight club would be your #1 LOL

  12. @Sara:
    I don't think it's the working in an office thing, I think it's that I watched it in a different time period. When I finally watched Scarface, I just didn't get "it." Like, all the hype. Don't get me wrong, Office Space had funny moments. I won't deny that.

    @lalalalauren:
    as long as it makes your top ten, Tyler would be pleased :)

    @JSjov:
    interesting. Glad I didn't lose you altogether though

    @Cassie:
    If people know one thing about me, I wouldn't mind if that's what it was

    ReplyDelete
  13. Well I never got Scarface. That was a dumb ass movie. I can't even sell it at a yard sale for $1. That says something. ;)

    Are you saying I'm old?!?!

    LOL. :)

  14. @Sara:
    haha no way man, I meant "time period" as in there was so much hype on it -- that's how I'm comparing it to Scarface. And not just from you, from everybody. Like, I'm glad I saw Fight Club when I did because if I watched it now I probably wouldn't think it was that great.
