So yea, it would have been nice if you would have let me know that you were coming. I didn't even have a chance to clean or pick up or anything. Kinda sucks that the first thing you are seeing as you walk in is this:

But in my defense, that is NOT trash. If you look closely, you will see that it is cardboard, plastics, aluminum... yea, we recycle here. It's just that sometimes I get too lazy to take it to the site.
Well, as we make our way around the kitchen, I have to stop and say that I hope you ate before you came over here because I am a terrible host and have not gone shopping in a while, as you can tell by what our freezer looks like

Like I said, you guys caught me off guard. Next time I could have prepared a meal fit for a king. Or asked jme to do it. Whichever.
Over here in the living room is where we spend most of our time, and probably were we will be hanging out.

Once again, please excuse the mess. That corner is mostly old textbooks that we can't seem to find a home for. Feel free to take them if you want them. But you will see the main attraction: our Rock Band setup. We get pretty serious about our Rock Band in this house.
However, here in the living room you will find two of my most prized possessions.

This is my blu-ray collection since I got my player back in December. It seems like most of you are fans of these movies, so we can watch later if you want. But if TV is more of your thing...

Then we can watch two of the greatest series. Ever. Well up to season 3 of Scrubs because these are the only ones I have found on sale.
Huh? You wanna see the rest of the house? Ok, we can make that happen. Walking down the hall, you will come face to face with a poster we found in the attic when we moved in.

I will be honest, at first I though it was a Rambo type poster until I discovered that it was a bandana he used while dancing in Saturday Night Fever. When you have a poster like that, you HAVE to put it up.
Since we saw the blu-rays and the tv show dvd's in the living room, I will show you my favorite shelf of dvd's that is stored in my room.

If you notice, there is a sort of theme on this row. And believe it or not, the only movies on this row I haven't watched are Johnny Depp ones. I need to change that...
But this, I have no explanation for:

other than to say don't judge me, we all have our embarassing shelves, right?
If you looked at the top, you will see autobiographies. Those are books that I have read every word of. But other books that have caught my interest are on the other side of the room. Don't trip on the bed trying to see them.

So I don't have a real bookshelf, mainly because I have only read half of these books. Some were given to me from my uncle, who also has the book that should be displayed right here, Fight Club.
Now, I know what you are asking yourself. "Mr O, you always talk about music, don't you have any of that stored in your room?" And all I have to say is look above the books

I started my record collection during our road trip back in May. But if you look over to the other side of the room, you will see that I still rock some cd's

along with momentos from the trip. That rock is from the Grand Canyon and the jellyfish in a jar is from a shop and the seashell is from a beach, both from Monterey. However, cd's are kind of going away, so it's mostly the laptop that emits the music coming from my room

That's my baby. If you look closely, you will see it's what I use for my radio shows. You might recognize a certain playlist going on.
Well that about concludes it, unless anybody knows how to play this thing

I've tried to learn so many times, but I just keep stalling in my progress. So feel free to show my a thing or two.
But if you guys are ready, let's end this tour and go play some Rock Band. I CALL DRUMS!
*Special thanks to
Mr. Condescending for coming up with this idea and to
Girl Interrupted for twisting it and giving me an inspiration in which to do mine.
Mr O, thanks for doing this! And thanks to the always incredible Girl Interrupted for giving you the push too.
ReplyDeleteI'm jealous you have a blu ray player, I'm still behind the times with that, but I've seen them at friends and its amazing.
Shit ill go over to play rock band, I've never even played guitar hero!
You've got a spare room, right? If not, I'll have to camp on the floor in your room next to the books. Because I might be staying for a while...
ReplyDeleteWe'll be watching so many of your DVDs, my friend - can we start off with Elf? 'Cause even though it's not Christmas, I love Zooey Deschanel so much that I don't care if it's not Christmas! But Old School or 40 Year Old Virgin would be fine too - not fussy.
And don't worry about not having much to feast on. I suck at cooking, so it's probably best if I forget about trying to bring something - let's just go and have noodles somewhere instead! My treat. Then afterwards we can drink girly drinks, and you can teach me how to play Rock Band while I give you some piano lessons in exchange :)
I'm on the next plane to Alabama! (Especially to see that poster. HOT.)
I love Hungry Howies!!! I miss that from good ole college days. Too bad there aren't any around here.
ReplyDeleteLike this idea! Might have to steal it!
Nah man, I'm the drummer here. I'M THE DRUMMER HERE!!!!!
ReplyDeleteMan... I had a comment all typed out and then accidently closed the page... grrr....
ReplyDeleteAnyways, that playlist seems to be one of my blog cds.... nice choice if I do say so myself!
Movies: I love Superstar, just watched it the other night "Why Don't you go drink a BOTTLE OF YOURSELF, Evian!!!"
I can play piano kind of, nothing spectacular, much like my guitar playing haha.
Big fan of Palahniuk eh? I've only ever read Choke, last summer in Russia someone brought it and I read it when I had some down time. Pretty good haha It's no Harry Potter lol.
And last but not least, tv shows... nice choices! I'm thinking about doing this once I get moved into my house up at school, right now all my stuff is packed away so it would do no good. I wish I hadn't deleted this the first time through haha
ooh this is such a boys house
ReplyDeletetop marks for the recycling..though you loose points for being too lazy to take it out :)
I see you have Old School "We're Going streaking up through the quad and into the gymnasium!" I love that film..anything with Will Ferell in is a winner in my eyes
And the Office...have you watched the original & best office series...the UK version with Ricky Gervais?...hilarious!!!
Your home reminds me of college days and boys apartments. I shudder at the thought of what the bathroom looks like.
ReplyDeleteHowever turn the oven on a bake me some french fries. They are my fave! I'm super classy that way.
Also pirates and paul walker movies on blue ray it super nice as well. Throw those fries in and it's a party.
First of all, I just want to commend you for a great post. And for actually having pictures ;) Also, I'd just like to say, that you know good and well that even if someone told you 2 months in advance that they were coming over, you still wouldn't clean your house. HA, I know from experience. And I would def. cook dinner fit for a kind bc I know whats up. BFFF.
ReplyDelete@Mr C:
ReplyDeleteThanks to you two for giving me inspiration to do a decent blog, haha. And we gotta get you on Rock Band, it's like Karaoke on steroids.
@the girl:
Rock Band tutorials in exchange for piano lessons = awesome. Let me know when I need to pick you up from Montgomery and I will have the girly drinks waiting for you when you arrive. Bring the boy too, we have a kitchen he can start a fire in ;)
@Jaime:
please do steal it. Then come join us next time for some Hungry Howies. You can't beat 6 dollar large pizzas
@Teh:
alright man, i gotchu, I can get on vocals. I hope you like men who have to sing high to be able to beat a videogame
@jeanette:
thanks for the second attempt, haha. And close on that playlist, it was the one that I played for the radio. It was called WEGL 1 (first hour) and there were a couple underneath. Remember this post when you move into the new place
@miss H:
I actually haven't seen the UK version, but I feel I need to. We have pulled marathons of this version. And you are right, it is a boys house, haha
@Natalie:
do you like Checkers fries? Cuz i think you can buy them in the store and those fries plus fast and furious cars is an awesome combo. And on a good week, my bathroom is actually clean
@j:
daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaang, why you gotta call me out like that? I hope I live near you in the future -- who else is gonna cook my meals?
@
Your place isn't too messy...at least all of your books/cd's/dvd's/blue rays are perfectly organized. Your freezer food looks identical to something I'd see at my brother's place! hahah. Love all of the Johnny Depp/ Will Ferrell movies! Rock Band=amazing! :)
ReplyDeleteI loved this. Very much reminds me of my apartment days. And my brothers house that he rents is eerily similar.
ReplyDeleteBut I gotta be honest- I'm an organizer at heart. I would have your place organized in probably in an hour. I'm fast. And you likely wouldn't know it was happening. :) BUT you'd love it and thank me profusely forever and ever. And then teach me how to play Rock Band.
Yay for recycle!!
