So due to the girl's pimping, I have a few new followers. Special thanks to her, but thank you for taking her advice. Now I feel the pressure to be clever and hold your attention. Or maybe I will just keep doing what I'm doing and hopefully you will like it. I will go with plan B.
Also, I am going to check out the other two guys on her post as well as everybody that has just shown up. So I hope you know what you have gotten yourself into. I try to comment a lot. Although there are some people I follow that I have been slacking on, but I will work on that, I promise. This isn't myspace, I'm not just trying to rack up my numbers. I want to actually get to know everybody that clicked "follow" as I have already gotten to know a couple and it has been awesome. With that said, how about you get to know me?
Some of these are repeats from the 10 things post, but hey some people don't wanna go back that far. So let's do this:
*The name Mr. O -- it stands for my initials. Just kinda worked out that way.
*I am on myspace and facebook, not on twitter. I try to keep them separate from this blog, but I have already added a fellow blogger, so if you are down for that, then I am willing.
*I was born in California, but raised in Alabama. How's that for a difference of scenery? The majority of my family still lives in California and the only reason I am still in this state is because I go to college here (Auburn, not that "other" school)
*I have other family in Crestview, Florida. If you read on here, you will see that I go there quite a bit. They are the kind of family that are your best friends as well. They are certainly mine as they have been there for me through numerous occasions. Though our time spent together is mostly hurling insults and vulgarities at one another, we all three (my sister and her husband) have each other's backs.
*I have a lot of real good friends, but through the tests of time only two "best friends" (yes, I am in college and still use that term). They are both on blogger, but only one actually uses it. The user is Jme (how I spell it) and the sorta user is my roommate Frisco. You will hear about both of them. Especially Jme, as she is getting married this winter and I, as a male, will be on her side at the wedding. I love it.
*Music basically runs through my veins. It is a good chance that every post will include music in some capactiy. I listen to all kinds of genres, I jam out on Rock Band, and I have my own college radio show. Hell, the title for this blog comes from a Coldplay song (and album name). Speaking of that you will hear a lot about Taking Back Sunday. So hopefully you are cool with that. And concerts are my crack.
*Other things I am also a fan of include wrestling, football and video games. As far as each one is concerned -- on wrestling, I know it's fake the same way you know movies are fake. I also watch it for the same reason you watch any of your favorite shows. There is action, comedy, drama, twists and good times. Honestly, I have been watching it so long because my Grandpa was watching it the day I was born and I have been hooked ever since. So it's just my thing. As far as football, I rep the orange and blue of both the Auburn Tigers (college) and Denver Broncos (pro). Expect to see a lot of football related posts in the fall. And when it comes to video games, I mostly play Rock Band, but lately I have gotten into the wii. Played with the right people, they are the perfect way to spend a day.
*Things I am not a fan of: wet socks, needles, spiders, smoking and people that walk slow in a crosswalk.
*You may see a lot of posts where I say "I swear I'm not gay" and this is because I have blogged about my man crushes, how I think "Brokeback Mountain" is a really good movie, going to concerts like No Doubt/Paramore and other funny stuff like that but also because I have been described as wearing my heart on my sleeve, which I guess is rare in a male. However, I must say, if it comes off a little homophobic, that is the complete opposite. I just don't want strangers thinking that is the case and then getting confused when I pour my heart about the females in my life. In fact, I support gay rights. Crazy trivia: that is the first time I have ever come out and said that.
*Things I may actually blog about include everything from what I did that day to what is on my mind. I may get personal here and there because I feel it helps. Jme is actually the one that got me started on this as it was a way to help my journalism (my major) style, but I got stuck on this. So even though I plan on starting a separate one, this blog has helped me I think at least find my voice. And as the girl pointed out, I am still testing the boundaries of my honesty. She posts with such raw honesty that it makes me wanna go there one day. And one day, I might. I have also noticed that I talk with parenthesis a lot. I will try to work on that. I also participate in Wordless Wednesday and Flashback Fridays. Oh, and I am bored of this layout. I feel with near 50 posts, I need to spice it up. Look out for that soon.
So that's it, I mean there is probably more, but it will come out as these blogs flow out. With that out of the way, some quick thoughts on my mind:
**Saw Public Enemies tonight. Need to see it again. Got kind of confused a few times. But any movie with Johnny Depp in it is guaranteed to get rated at least three stars before I even step foot in the theater. I gave this one four. But like I said, def need to see it again.
**With all the celebrity deaths going on lately, I think Steve McNair's has been the saddest. He may not be as popular as Micheal Jackson, but he was one hell of a football player. And to be killed, not die due to medical reasons, is what makes it sad. As the details are rolling out, the story is becoming sketchy, but as for right now I am withholding judgment.
**No radio show tomorrow. Have to move some stuff AND left my hard drive in Crestview this weekend. But on the music front, add the new AFI cd to Paramore and The Used that are coming out in September. I can't wait.
**I have been playing out the following cd's: The Sounds - Crossing the Rubicon and Meg and Dia - Here, Here, and Here. Check them both out.
**I played Mario Party on the DS today. Then had a good ol dance party. If the pictures get posted, I shall share. But it was a great afternoon.
That's about it for now. Usually in my posts, I won't talk to my audience so to speak, but like I said, still trying to find my voice. So yea, if you're new and haven't already, or if you clicked "follow" a long time ago but haven't said hi, introduce yourself as well. I'd love to hear from you.
Random lyric of the day:
It's hard to believe
That there's nobody out there
It's hard to believe
That I'm all alone
At least I have her love
The city she loves me
Lonely as I am
Together we cry
wow i feel kinda special and welcome yet a sheep for following someone i was told to follow... :)
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh so many things that I probably already commented on but deal, because you're getting them again. 1)Austin Powers! 2)Remember that time we were Facebook friends? It's been marvelous. 3) Your comments are always better than mine, it's giving me a complex 4)Public Enemies: I'm still undecided, but broke, so I'll stay that way for a while. 5)Woot! New AFI!?! This made my day. 6) I heart Meg and Dia. I love the old stuff but here, here and here is playing it's way into my heart.
ReplyDeleteAlright, I think that was everything I needed to say. As far as racing with the album. Your on... but you have to wait until I get my mail... we could have a listening/Facebook chat party although you might get angry at my undying love for them.
I wanted to post some catchy and whitty comment like I did yesterday, but alas I have performance anxiety. I need to go find myself some mental viagra and I'll be back.
ReplyDelete::waves hi::
ReplyDeleteI like baseball, movies, good clothes, fast cars... and you. What else you need to know?
ReplyDelete*Insert big, lusty sigh here*
Mr O, you are awesome :) Glad to see that you've found some new (and much-deserved) followers. So many things I want to say about this post, but my feeble mind refuses to co-operate and help me come up with a coherent comment, so we'll just have to make do with the random:
ReplyDelete* Didn't know you were born in California - to me, it sounds like such an exotic and glamorous place. Do you think you'll ever go back there one day?
* I have no fucking idea what American football is all about (sorry!), so it'll be interesting to read your posts when it's football season over there. American football makes me think of The Waterboy. It's awesome.
* DITTO on the wet socks thing. Makes me feel all icky and squirmy just thinking about it.
* I love you just a little bit more for your support of gay rights :)
* I'm sad there's no radio show, but I forgive you because you said so many unnecessarily lovely things about me.
* The fact that you wear your heart on your sleeve is probably the biggest reason why I think you rock. For God's sake, leave it there! It's what sets you apart from all the rest.
OK, random super long comment over! Have a good one ;)
@Al:
ReplyDeletewe can make sheep fun, it's cool. And please feel special. And welcome.
@jeanette:
I'm so glad someone got the Austin Powers reference without me having to explain it! I am not only racing you with cd's, but I guess we are comment battling? I like it though. It's like Step Up, but without the streets. And we definitely should have a listening party
@cube girl:
I'm still waiting for your return...
@Natalie:
we have already waved hello, but it's nice to get a Hi here and there. Speaking of you, i need to go read your posts from today. Here I go right after I am done with this
@Lola:
I was definitely thinking of putting that line as describing me. And I don't know if you have seen the movie, but the way he gets the girl... wow. I took notes.
@the girl:
I've said it once, I've said it a million times... your long comments are awesome. Keep them coming. I NEED to say two things about your comment:
1) I will definitely working on explaining my Cali background
2) I will be happy and honored to be the one that gives you insight into American football. But then don't you worry, next year I will be chatting it up about the "real" football. World Cup 2010, YES!!!! The only time period where I will look at other countries as the enemy (my apologies ahead of time)
Hey :) here via the Girl's blog ... if she recommends you, you must be good.
ReplyDeleteLiked this post, it's always nice to find out more about the blogger ... I'll be back
Ps: I didn't say that in a dodgy Arnie accent, honest
