Changes, Questions, New Things, & Disappointment

So a major change is taking place in my life right now. A third roommate is moving in. For the past two years, it has been my best friend of nearly 12 years, myself, and his sister. However, his sister moved home around December of 2008. But even before that, she was barely here. So basically, for the last two years, it has been him and I. And we held it down. Never any drama. In fact, he helped me through a lot. The break up between myself and my girlfriend of just over three years, the divorce of my dad and stepmom, his first ever real relationship, it kind of goes on and on. We got into new shows together like The Office and Scrubs. However, this is starting to sound like we are splitting up, but we're not. The point I think i'm trying to make is it is easier to have that connection when it is just two people. I just don't know how a third roommate is going to work out. I mean, I have been friends with him for a few years, he isn't a stranger, but still. I just worry. It's what I do. Like we joked around the other day when we split a six dollar pizza together. They slice it up into ten pieces. We were like "what are we going to do with three people?" Haha

I had a text conversation the other day that went something like this:

Her: "Hey, I know you probably have plans, but we are having a 4th of July BBQ at my dad's if you want to come."

Me: "On the actual day, cuz I will probably be in Crestview"

Her: "Yea... I figured you would be..."

Those lil dot dot dots, it made me sit there and think. My greatest fault is that I over analyze way too much. And she got to me. Do I visit Crestview way too much? (For those new to the game, Crestview is where my sister and brother in law live). I asked a friend of mine today and he was like "who cares?" I guess that is the approach I take, but it just bothers me a little bit. I don't know why...

So some new things I am going to try out with this blog: Wordless Wednesdays and Flashback Friday. I have seen WW before, so I am pretty sure I get the concept. I only saw something about a FF on lovelila's word press account. Now, I don't know if this is an actual thing, or it's just something she does, but either way, I'm taking it, haha. I just found my old livejournal, so it should be fun.

And finally... I saw Transformers. I have to say, I was dissapointed. (now the blog title should make sense). If you haven't seen the movie, stop reading now as I will probably go into detail. I have only walked out of one movie in my entire life -- The Spirit -- but when Sam got up in the classroom and was making those weird noises and stuff, I swear I was ready to get up. The story was kind of all over the place, I had no idea who the characters were at times, and the cheesiness that worked in the first movie, in my humble opinion, was overplayed in this one. Maybe i am getting old (at 22, I sure hope not), but when a robot called a dude a pussy and the 5 and 6 year olds next to me were cracking up, I just felt slightly uncomfortable. I read a lot of stuff where Micheal Bay just blows stuff up, like that is what his whole movie is about. And they are right, there was stuff exploding in this movie for no reason. We were laughing, cuz at one point it looked like he had recycled footage from Pearl Harbor, another movie of his. And don't get me started on Megan Fox. As hot as she is, she was lame in this movie. And this is going to sound really weird coming from a guy, but when she smiled, she looked ugly haha. I don't know, maybe I just liked the bad ass chick from the first one, and not the "say you love me" from the second one. My last gripes are this: during the last battle scene, I was honestly confused -- I didn't know who were good guys and who were bad guys. And if Optimus Prime would have stayed dead, that would have been awesome. But as my friend pointed out, they took the "cookie cutter" route. Now, reading all that, you would think I hated that movie, but not really. I was just dissapointed after watching the first one. That's all

Edit: Actually that's not all, haha. I am a HUGE fan of The Office, and it sucked to me that Rainn Wilson was only in that movie for two minutes. And I am also a huge fan of the music and movie connection and I have to say it irritated me to hear "21 Guns" by Green Day played THREE TIMES! I like the song, but they could have played something different. Teasing the Linkin Park song was cool, but they killed Green Day by playing it a FOURTH time during the credits. Just my two cents.

I saw a trailer before the movie that I had seen before, but I find it funnier now. I realize it sounds weird to say you "know" somebody through blogging, but what the hell, I feel like I sorta "know" someone from Australia. It intrigues to learn about the music (shoutouts to Wolfmother) and the different langauge. Anyways, I feel little chuckles now when I see the trailer for Funny People and Seth Rogen "He is going to kill us, they are from Australia, that's what they do, they kill things there!" So I ask you, girl, is that what they do there? Haha, see for yourself:

Random lyric of the day:

Meet me in outerspace
We could spend the night, watch the earth come up
I've grown tired of that place, wont you come with me
We could start again

  1. I moved into an apartment with two girls that had previously lived together, and things went really well for a while! Until one of the girls got a boyfriend and a bond shift happened. Me and one of the girls ended up having way more in common and got a lot closer while our other roommate just got distant... oh well... I liked having two roomies, though! It was fun!

    I don't know if anyone else does Flashback Friday, haha! I kind of just threw it together, so I'm glad you liked it enough to try it out here! That's awesome!

    I haven't seen Transformers 2 yet (so I skipped that paragraph, haha), and I don't know when I'm going since all my plans to see it fell through...oops! I definitely want to check out Funny People, though :)

  2. Crap... Another long comment...

    Hooray - shout out love! You're too kind :)

    That movie looks so funny! Although that preview (our word for 'trailer') makes me want to shrivel up into a little ball and hide (do we seriously sound like that?!) Despite our horrible accent, I can't wait to see it. And don't get me started on how indecently I love Seth Rogen...

    I think people might kill things here, just a little bit - but it's nothing like "hunting" over in the States. It's mostly farmers shooting kangaroos when the populations get massive and take over too much grazing land area for sheep, which I think is a bit ridiculous in some ways. I mean, the kangaroos were there first!

    Transformers? I hear you, oh, how I hear you. You pretty much summed up the whole experience with this: when a robot called a dude a pussy and the 5 and 6 year olds next to me were cracking up, I just felt slightly uncomfortable. Me too, friend, me too (although I am 24, so maybe we're a bit too old after all...)

    Your room mate situation sounds like the end of an era, sort of, which is a little sad. I'm sure the three of you will work out your own little rituals and stuff over time, and it's good that you are already friends with your new roomie dude. Just make sure you're the one who gets that extra slice of the 10-slice pizza, and it'll all work out fine :) (I am so proud of myself for not mentioning 'threesomes' at all just now.)

    Girl situation? Hmmm. It sounds like she was trying to brush off what she thought was a personal rejection. I don't know too much about 4th of July traditions, but I've always thought of public holidays as a time to hang out with family/close friends (but don't know if this applies here... Sorry.) Don't take it personally - it was probably just her way of dealing with disappointment. If you want to spend time with your family, then do it, and don't worry about what other people think. Do what makes you happy! I suppose I'd say that if she can't understand that, then she might not be worth the trouble. (Just my 2c.)

    OK - shutting up now!

  3. I HAVE to see that movie. But yes, that is a pretty good representation of Aussie Man. He doesn't seem to be carrying around a can of beer with him at all times. Or wearing a t-shirt with a 'humourous' slogan though...

    I once played Trivial Pursuit with a group of Australians. They have a different version. Instead of Literature, History etc, they have TV, Fads, Buzz, Music, Movies, and Sports & Games. I won and I am quite stupid.

  4. I think that version of Trival Pursuit is the Pop Culture Edition. I've played it before. I want that game!

  5. @lovelila:
    i'm glad you are cool with me stealing your idea. And I love how the comments are spurring other comments, haha. If their was an online version of trivial pursuit, we should all play it. Question: Can you follow me? If so, there HAS to be a way for me to follow you, right?

    @the girl:
    oh we usually call it previews. It's stuck ups like me that refer to it as trailers, haha. But I think it was funny when Seth Rogen is like "what accent is that?" Even he doesn't know. And thanks for the concern, but this wasn't actually a situation, just a friend. It still just got me thinking ya know, but I will do what makes me happy, I guess I just needed some confirmation. And our fourth of july traditions consist of fireworks, BBQ, and possibly drinking. I have never dipped in to the third choice on this holiday, but if the Crestview trip works out, this year may be a first.

    Oh, and you can write a friggin letter in a comment, I would never care. Just sayin.

    @sas:
    Have you had experiences with the men from Australia or are you from that great place as well? That would just be crazy. And like I said, we should all I get on some trivial pursuit. I bet you aren't stupid, you just play dumb so people think they can win, haha

  6. I am sooo excited for Funny People! Hopefully it won't disappoint.

    Also Incubus... awesome.

  7. Oh also I forgot, there are three of us who lived together moving in with our friend next year, I'm nervous as you are. The three of us have our routine, I guess we'll just have to see how it goes?

  8. I use Google Reader to follow your blog. Do you use any readers? I have a "subscribe in a reader" button on my blog and I know it has a few options there, including an email option. But if you use IE, there should be an orange RSS button and you can use that to track my updates or if you use Firefox, you can go to my blog, then go to Bookmarks and "Subscribe to this page" and you can track it that way. If none of those work... then I'm out of ideas, haha!

  9. Oh, sas, on behalf of all Australian women, I think I need to apologise to the world for (most) Australian men. And a double apology just because Australian-ness is even more offensive to Kiwis. If I could switch nationalities this second, I'd do it. Sadly I'm too poor to afford the airfare... You have no idea how many time's I've threatened to move to New Zealand!

    Mr. O, the Australian guy in that preview is seriously not that exaggerated. He could be most of the guys I went to high school with... Not kidding. At all. Australian guys are wankers. Mostly.

  10. I feel the same way... that it IS much easier to have a close bond with just one other person. I see how you can feel kind of hesitant. But i'm sure if you keep an open mind things will work out!

    I analyze texts waaay to much too. Oh the days when we called each other... *sigh*

    What's wordless wednesdays? I'm interested...

    hopefully it won't, even they pretty much gave away the whole movie. And Incubus is gold. But trust me, you will be hearing about them soon enough (August concert). Speaking of concerts, hope to get pics from Jack's Mannequin. But good luck to both of us, right?

    @the girl:
    once again, this blog is becoming a forum, and I love it! Haha. I have heard wanker before, and I'm guessing it's not a good thing.

    @Lisa:
    Yea, texts are the coolest/stupidest thing to happen to cell phones. But WW is basically where you just post pics, haha. And this a response to your blog, but China... wow, that's awesome.

  12. I am a kiwi so there is a long standing arrangement to diss the Aussies at every opportunity.

    But yes I have family that live there, my neice is half strayan and I dated an Aussie guy for about 2 years. He made me feel really talented.
