Man. This is a pretty big post. Here's why:
*It's #170. That's 30 away from 200 if you are counting. And 200 is a big deal, right?
*Today is the "anniversary" of the passing of one of my best friends. Last year, it hit me really hard. I don't want to say I'm getting used to it, but I think the sadness is definitely going away replaced with just trying to remember the life and not the fact that it has ended. It was four years ago that we all got the news. And on today's four year mark, I ironically received some wonderful news.
*I got offered an internship for the summer. Of course I accepted and after details are worked out, I will be working at the Montgomery Advertiser for the summer. If you believe in those kinds of things, one would think it was fate that I got good news on a day that a memory of bad news. One would think.
*But let's get to why we are all here: THE RESULTS FOR THE TOP 30 VOCALISTS!!!
This week was successful because the recording worked perfectly. I had to make a few edits due to noise levels and the guys after me cutting of the last song, but I don't think it's noticeable.
Now, I would like you to listen to the show. I even made it to where you can download it and take it with you. Put it on your iPod, listen in the car. But that is how I would really like you to hear it. Ask Sara, Lisa and Lola. They will tell you it was a good show. (HUGE shoutout for those guys tuning in).
However, if you are really impatient e-mail and persuade me to give the goods away. My address is okarmmr@auburn.edu and I will let you know if you absolutely can't wait. But please listen, I'm not trying to be egotistical but I really think this was a good show. I mean, it involves my top 15 Vocalists, so that has to be good, right?
(Edit: When you listen to the beginning, I decided my first track on to a song that was already playing in the station. The song in question was not in the countdown, but I figured due to comments, it was a good way to start the show.)
(Edit #2: I was definitely acting like a rookie on this show. My co-host sounded better than I did and it was only her second show. But I moved away from the mic quite a bit and a mumbled way too much. Consider this my apologies for the moments where you go "what did he just say?")
(Edit#3: To download, click on the button that has an arrow pointing down. Then just follow the directions and you should have this file on your computer and can be able to take it with you wherever whenever).
Enjoy...

First off- I think the factyou got the internship news on today? Big sign. And I totally believe in fate. But I still think you should try to come north this summer. ;)
ReplyDeleteSecond off- I dig your shows every single week so whatevs. I'm not even trying to hear about you being wonky about your skillz. And I have to say- I am thrilled Anberlin made top 15, that you played Glass to the Arson (which I love, love, love to jam out to), and that you think he's hot. Please don't think I will forget that. Just sayin.
Third, 200 is a big deal. Shalom!
Fourth, we need to figure out how to get you going on a podcast. Because we need a plan on how I'm going to listen to you when you are done at the station. Our radio stations suck. Make it happen homie.
Consider yourself emailed.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I made a point of my 100th post, but my 200th just sorta happened and I couldn't even tell you what it was.
Great show! You guys had a great rapport and had great songs that showcased the vocalists well. Loved the nod to "Grand Theft Autumn," that was the song that got me into FOB and a great example of Patrick's talents. Gotta say, I'm a bit shocked you went with "Cut Me Up Jenny" for Adam. Not a criticism, just unexpected. :)
ReplyDeleteOh, and "Misguided Ghosts" is INCREDIBLE.
You're gonna LOVE Silversun Pickups though. Saw 'em at Outside Lands and they absolutely kill live. It's like an ocean of distortion that just levels you, and the crowd goes NUTS when they play "Lazy Eye."
You are right-- it was a really good show! I can honestly say that I enjoyed all of it/all the songs you played.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry about your friend, but looks to me like she sent some lucky dust your way with hopes to turn this day into a celebration of new beginnings instead of sad memories. So, CONGRATS on the internship! Hopefully it will be the start of something really great for you.
P.S. I guess we can still be friends..:)
@Sara:
ReplyDeleteI think you have taken the title of "most dedicated listener." And I sincerely thank you for that. Yea, there were a lot of choices for Anberlin, so I went with one that I knew my BB would like. Cuz I have a good music memory. And podcast is a definite. Especially if I have your research help.
@Allison:
consider yourself replied to. And I will probably make a big deal out of 200 cuz I'm weird like that.
@Mike:
Dude, for you to call those things out means you listened. Sincerely, thank you for taking the time to do that. Classic FOB will always have memories for me. And little trivia: I was originally going to go with "New American Classic" and showcase Adam and Fred, but decided to go with just Adam and I feel Jenny showcased his grit. (more trivia: I was in the studio doing my best impersonation while that song was playing). And if I wasn't motivated to see SP before, I am now after your words.
@Lisa:
I can't stress this enough. When you guys say good things about my shows, it means a lot. Thank you for your words about my friend as well, and I'm kinda hoping it will be a start as well. Or, just maybe, I go back to Cali?
Glad we are still friends ;)
OMG - Green Eyes is MY COLDPLAY SONG!
ReplyDeleteSeriously - you have no idea how happy this made me.
FYI - I have green eyes.
I'm all over the research, yo. I will even give up my tv watching on saturday night from 10-11 to do that for you, BB.
ReplyDeleteAnd if I'm most dedicated I feel like I should have a button or something. I mean, come on. ;)
As you know I just passed the one year of my friend dying, you know you can talk to me!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the internship although I'm sad it will ruin our Warped Tour plans. But hopefully it leads to you being out in California (that is if I decide to go there)
Thirdly I still have to listen to this show! I'm going to get around to it.
Fourthly How are you liking Punk Goes Classic Rock??!
