This one should come as no surprise.
I first saw Fight Club in my freshman year of college so I was about six years late. But that movie changed everything for me. Ever since that first viewing it has stayed on my #1 spot and it will probably never leave. I could go on and on about why I like the movie so much, but seeing as how this is "Music Sunday" I will just talk about the soundtrack.
Even though there were a couple songs by different artists (The Pixies "Where is My Mind?" to close the movie) the soundtrack was mainly done by The Dust Brothers. And contained on this cd is all the songs that were featured in the movie.
What I love is listening to the songs and them taking me back to individual scenes in the movie (last time I counted, I lost track of how many times I've seen that movie). I remember my birthday was coming up and my sister wanted to get me something so were at the mall and I was like "how about this?" and bam, I have a new soundtrack.
Now, you can't really listen to this in your car or anything like that. Actually, I don't really know that great of a place to sit down and listen to it, though I have used it to study in the past. With that said, there's not many songs to post as they are mainly instrumentals, but enjoy some of these and maybe a bonus song from the movie itself.
And remember: "You are not your fucking khakis"
(this video doesn't necessarily highlight the soundtrack, but you can hear a track in the background -- and I just think the video is really cool)
I love Fight Club. I remember wanting to puke the first time I saw it, but now I just really love it. I love Ed Norton, I loved young Brad Pitt (he's just a douche with gross facial hair now), and I loved the entire concept of the movie. I love that clip you showed of Ed Norton and Helena Bonham Carter and he's saying she met him at a weird time in his life-- her face? Priceless. The ending was fucked up but a good fucked up. And now I think I'm going to watch that while folding laundry tonight. THANKS! ;)
ReplyDeleteFirst rule of Fight Club...Ok I know that was lame but it had to be done. This movie is odd, twisted and for some reason...I really like it. It's just such a shame I don't own it, you made me want to watch it.
ReplyDeletesomeone has to-- the book is better!!
ReplyDeletethat's not to say that i don't own a very well-worn copy of the dvd, haha.
to be honest i never really paid much attention to the music, other than obviously the pixies' song at the end.
@Jsjov:
ReplyDeleteTrue story -- I read the entire book in one day. Of course, I was flying from Alabama to California that day and I read it while in the airport and on flights, but still. I liked the different ending
Hey, you checked out my Blog a while back, so I thought I'd return the favour. You have some cool Music on here. I thought I'd comment on this post because Fight Club is one of my favourite films. You got yourself a new reader. =]
