Real Life vs. The Movies

Real Life:

*My facebook is littered with Alabama fans talking about how they are going to win the national championship tonight. I will probably hate life if that comes true. I will not be watching the game as I feel I am bad luck. I tuned in to watch Troy in overtime last night only to see them lose. So, if I were to watch hoping for Bama to lose, they would probably win. I hope this trick works...

*School starts on Monday and I am actually waiting for it to get here. I want it to be over with as this is my last semester of classes (internship in the summer). I'm in the excited/scared stage as it is beginning to set in that I have no idea where I will be a year from now.

Movies:

I've seen a few movies lately: Sherlock Holmes (liked it) Terminator Salvation (it was alright) and Seven Pounds (for the third time, but it gets me everytime). I think I am going to start a sideblog documenting all the movies I watch in 2010. Of course, I also said I was going to start a sideblog that was music related and we see how that turned out (it didn't).

Real Life vs. The Movies:

Being that I am single, I am curious as to how I am going to meet a girl. I was dating a girl from high school but that's done and over with so I am wondering how my next relationship is going to start. Is it going to be like in the movies -- we stumble into each other at the grocery store, go for the same cd at Best Buy, meet each other's gaze from across the room at a party? I have no idea, as I know those things rarely happen, but I'm curious and want to pose a question to you:

How did you meet your significant other that you are currently dating or did date for a while? Do you have any cool stories from freinds and family about how they met? I'm just curious if any of that stuff really happens and also curious if they are any cool stories out there.

  1. Oh my god- I always thought it'd be AWESOME to meet a guy while purchasing CD's. In fact that never happened but still, it'd be awesome. So of my two super serious relationships, I met the first one while working. We worked together and he was so hilarious. Not very cute but who cares. If I can laugh and chill and listen to music, I'm game. He turned out to be a bum without the intentions of getting another job (after getting fired) but it took me 3 years to figure it out. :) Then I met my hubby because he worked with my mom at a hardware store. Then he started going to the same college as me and voila- relationship. Except he? Doesn't really get into music. MAJOR bummer. So much so that he hates when I crank up my Led Zeppelin while cleaning. :( He tries to sing a long to annoy me when we are in the car because he could live the rest of our lives without music. I can't. I think I only married him because if we're being real? He's good in bed. SO, I mean everything is a trade off. Right? Please tell me I'm right?? :) LOL!

  3. I LOVE hearing stories about how people meet. I sort of live in la la land when it comes to meeting a guy just like it is the movies...maybe it isn't realistic, but I always think it would be super romantic to meet a guy randomly at a bookstore, music store, the park, on the subway, or whatever, and form an instant connection. Half the fun is believing that it can actually happen, so I will continue to believe that real life CAN be just like the movies. :)

    I did the photo blog so you have to do a music or movie one!

  4. I met my husband in his last class before he graduated college. I sat down next to him and said "hi, you're cute" took out my notebook and pen and started to take notes.. He turned beet red. Which made me laugh. That is the short story of how we met.

  6. @Sara:
    thanks for your awesome feedback. I think the whole "same taste in music" thing is gonna be how I find my soulmate -- but I'm slightly kidding myself. I imagine it's got to be a little frustrating with a husband who doesn't enjoy music (how is that possible?) but I guess your reasons outweigh it, haha. And thank you for your condolences about the game. I have to step away from facebook for a few days because too many of my friends are Alabama fans...

    @j:
    I told Frisco what you said. Usually, we wouldn't take your movie advice, but it's a new year so we will give it a shot since you recommended it

    @Lisa:
    I think we live on the same street in la la land. And I also have half the fun in "believing." This conversation kind of reminds of (500) Days of Summer. Man, that was a great movie.

    And your photo blog gave me the idea to start a separate blog. Not even kidding.

    @Natalie:
    That's the kind of story I was looking for. An awesome one.

  9. 20 something dudes are still 20 somethings and are greatly appreciated by me :)
    i'm definitely going to follow you; i really like your recent posts and want to know more about you!

    unfortunately i don't have any stories about myself "meeting cute" with a guy. my parents met because my mom asked my dad [then a member of their college's swim team] to teach her how to swim.
