Before I begin, I have to hype myself. I started the movie blog, chronicling the movies I will watch in 2010, starting with Sherlock Holmes. Please click on the following. I have no followers yet and it makes me sad :(
Mr O at the Movies
While I'm pimping other blogs, let me be unselfish and hype a photo blog by Lisa at her Three.Six.Five project. She only has a few followers right now and that needs to change. She has kept up with it so far this year, and I have a feeling she will not quit and it's awesome seeing those pics everyday.
Now, on to business.
I have to say, it was harder coming up with a top 50 list than I thought. I mean, I had a good 25 or so that were definitely making it, but I honestly spent a good hour or so deciding which will make the cut. I was saddened to see that some of my favorite artists didn't even make the list, so to amend that I will be posting a Music (insert name of the day) every day this week until the countdown starts on Sunday, highlighting some of my favorite artists who had more than one cd that just didn't make it.
But today's Music Sunday is about who missed the cut. Narrowly.
Some of my favorite artists that for whatever reason (got into them too late, never bought a cd -- only know the radio hits and a few others, I really like them but just didn't get the cd as a whole):
Cobra Starship
Augustana
30 Seconds To Mars
Bayside
T-Pain
Jay-Z
The White Stripes
The Sounds
Weezer
Metallica
John Legend
Silversun Pickups
The Used
Young Jeezy
The Killers
AFI
Queen
Jimmy Eat World
Emery
Brand New
Halifax
Chevelle
And here is where the music for today comes in. These are the albums that I really like, but didn't make the top 50.
Angels and Airwaves - We Don't Need To Whisper
Alicia Keys - As I Am
Hawthorne Heights - Silence In Black And White
A Day To Remember - Homesick
The Offspring - Greatest Hits
T.I. - Paper Trail
New Found Glory - Catalyst
Story of the Year - Page Avenue
Lupe Fiasco - Food & Liquor
Ludacris - Word of Mouf
The Hush Sound - Like Vines
Justin Timberlake - Futuresex/Lovesounds
Jack Johnson - In Between Dreams
Jimi Hendrix - Experience Hendrix
Outkast - Stankonia
We'll discuss this more later I'm sure, but off the top of my head I can see how some of these were not on the list. Cobra's new cd made me sad, it wasn't amazing. Also I'm sure you know that we could get you hooked up with some of these...
ReplyDeletei agree with a lot of your honorable mentions...most of the bands/artists on your list are ones that i really like, but that i wouldn't jump to if asked what my favorite music was.
ReplyDeletei'm glad i'm at my parents' house because now i'm going to dig around in my room to dig out some nostalgia-producing jimmy eat world and afi cds!
Ummm, how amazing are you?!! Thanks so much for the blog shout out! Seriously, I am happy if just one person takes a look at my photo blog, SO THANK YOU MR. O! :)
ReplyDeleteThe Killers are probably my fav on your list, but I like your lists as a whole. Good choices!
Heading to your movie blog RIGHT NOW!!! :)
Oh- I love that Alicia Keys album. It's funky but every album of hers is so different from each other. I have her new one- loving it. Email me if you want copies of them. slinkies_r_us@hotmail.com
ReplyDelete@jeanette:
ReplyDeleteoh, I know you could hook me up. You have provided me with some great ones. I actually need to return the favor after my downloading spree in South Dakota
@JSjov:
Hey, glad you stopped by. Hopefully you like the rest of these and my posts that don't deal with music haha. Also glad I could inspire some classic listening (not to classical music, just classic cds)
@Lisa:
well, consider me that at least one person. The Killers are the kind of band that I like a lot of their songs, but never got into any of their cds as a whole. And I'm glad you stayed at the movie blog.
@Sara:
I actually heard "Fallin" on the radio today and sang my little heart out, haha. Who cares if anybody saw me, that song is classic. But after hearing Empire State of Mind II, I snatched up her new cd as well.
