#50 - Spider-Man 2 Soundtrack
I'm 90% sure every boy had a favorite superhero growing up. Mine was always Spider-Man. I just thought he was the coolest with being able to swing away and shoot the web at people. I remember being little running around the house holding my hands like he is in the above image. I also remember at 14 years old doing the same thing when the first movie came out. Critically, the movies aren't that great. But they produced something else that was great: the soundtracks.I remember liking the first one and the third one had a good selection of bands, but the soundtrack for the second Spider-Man movie is the one that will always stick with me. This is for a couple reasons: One, I bought it for a friend of mine because of the bands listed and Two, it came at a time when I was starting to really discover music. And this is one of those great soundtracks where it hit the pulse of bands that were hitting their stride or were about to: Dashboard Confessional, Train, Hoobastank, Jet, Yellowcard, Maroon 5, Taking Back Sunday, Midtown, Lostprophets, Smile Empty Soul and The Ataris. Plus a few tracks from the incredible Danny Elfman and this was one soundtrack that received quite a few rotations in my cd player (Trivia: only one other soundtrack is on this countdown).
Some songs were album exclusives, such as Jet, DC and Yellowcard whose song you could tell was clearly made for the soundtrack. Some, like the track from TBS, was already featured on a cd, but it still helped me take notice of a band that would become my absolute favorite.
If you have never heard these songs by these bands, I invite you to give them a try. If not, just enjoy the classic Dashboard Confessional track.
I see what you did there haha it's like (500) Days of Summer.
ReplyDeleteRumor on the street is Robert Pattinson might ruin the next Spidey film... I'd give up all faith in humanity at that point.
Oh man, that is probably my favorite Dashboard Confessional song. :) I only saw the first SM because I cannot stand Kristen Dunst. Seriously, if I ever saw her I'd probably have no control over my right arm as I punch her. Her and Kristen Stewart. I cannot be held accountable for my actions towards either one of them. :) LOL!
ReplyDeleteI still have this CD. I remember loving it because it featured so many songs from some of my fav bands at the time (Jet, Maroon 5, Dashboard, and Yellowcard). Everytime I listen to the soundtrack it sort of brings me back...it reminds me of a time where I really started to get into music too and develop my music tastes. :)
ReplyDelete@jeanette:
ReplyDeleteif that comes true, I'm building a bomb shelter cuz the world is coming to an end
@Sara:
seems like you had the same idea as jeanette in our twilight character hating. Though I haven't had that much of a problem with Dunst, I would still love to see you do that
@Lisa:
The whole time I was reading your comment I was thinking to myself "ME TOO!"
I hate superheros.
ReplyDeleteJuss sayin'.
Good music though
(of corse).
Ps. I have recently added Paramore to my ipod and I'm hooked.
ReplyDeleteoh no, I love me some ROBERT!! I kid you not I would jump that boy the moment I saw him. Totally up and leave hubs for that. Seriously, I have my Robert bag, my Robert water bottle, my Robert calendar. Matt says no to the 6foot cutout. Which, hello- means I can buy it and have it arrive when he isn't home. :) He may suck as an actor but I don't care- he is hot as hell. :)
ReplyDelete@Jaime:
ReplyDeletewould have been awesome if you would have added them before we went and saw them in ATL. You could have rocked out with us!
@Sara:
My apologies for the misunderstanding haha. I will not rate on his "hotness" (he looks like weirdo to me) but will agree on his acting, or lack there of ;)
I loved spiderman as a kid and as a (semi)grown up.
ReplyDeleteI do love this soundtrack but I am surprised you missed out the main theme "We Are" by Ana. That was my favourite song on the album.
I love Vindicated.
ReplyDeleteI left an award for you on my blog today!

@Faker:
ReplyDeleteI guess when you grew up you grew out of it haha. And yea, I guess that is the one song I missed. Hopefully you will check out the rest of the countdown
