*I am no longer going to South Dakota. The newspaper I was interning at offered me a job and after a long thought process I took it. So now I will be living in Montgomery, Alabama.
*I am starting a new job at the same time as having to move out of the place I'm at now. And as of this post, I still don't have a place I'm going to. So that's sort of stressful, but whatever.
*Adding on to all this moving nonsense, I will be graduating on August 9, which is actually turning into an event with some of my family flying in from California.
*And lastly, my relationship ended. Details will probably come later, but for now, just add it to the list.
So give me a two week window and I will be back at blogging, better than ever. Even with possibly a new blog, since another one of mine died.
And I guess since I'm revealing everything else, I guess I can reveal that "project" I mentioned in the past. A fellow music blogger and I have gotten together and once we can hammer out the details we will unveil a music web site. There's not much more I can discuss at this point, but I feel like I'm going to hold it really close to me and will probably spend way too much time on it.
Now on to the question...
For those that have been following since the beginning, and I mean the very beginning, you will see that I used to be a lot more personal on here. Lately, I've almost taken that personal approach again but I kind of got into the mindset of "this has become a music blog with occasional life observations thrown in." And, to be honest, I don't want to come across as emo, but sometimes I need a place to vent.
So what do you think? Could you see this blog getting a little more personal? And please, you can give me candid answers. I'm ready for them. Answers and/or suggestions are welcome and encouraged.
* Well - I guess I won't get my postcard of Mount Rushmore...but congrats on the job! I hope it works out for you. Maybe I should move to Alabama to get a job in my field...
ReplyDelete* Moving sucks
* Graduating is fun! And that's so awesome that your family is flying in to support you!
* Relationships come and go...chin up bud :)
Lastly, I haven't followed you from the beginning - but I say blog what you feel. And I hate the term "emo" - 'cause sharing feeling doesn't mean you're a sad sack. I pick and choose what I share and I think it makes for a good balance.
Cheers!
1) I love the reference to that fabulous Coldplay song as your blog's name.
ReplyDelete2) You have 69 followers, I don't know why I thought it important to point it out, but I did.
3) Sorry about the relationship :( But yay for job? Jobs are importants. I should know. I'm jobless.
XoXo,
Annah
dude my heart aches 4 U. as well as swells 4 ur possibility. w/the rest.. i imagine headaches & sleep deprivation R coming. sumthings R EZier 2 handle n small doses ;). i always say do what u gotta do. B as personal as it feels safe 4 u. we probably all have more n common than differences. whatever NE of that means :P & blah, blah, blah...
ReplyDeleteI have been reading your blog for quite some time (although not from the beginning), but I have never ever viewed it as a music blog. To me music is such a personal thing anyway, so your constant music posts have always just acted as an extension of something personal that you've chosen to share with us. :)
ReplyDeleteMoving is always stressful and hectic, but treasure that job offer and be proud of yourself! And also let your career be your gf right now. :) hahah
I don't think I've been following from the beginning, but I think at one point I read from the beginning. When I had time and such. ;) BUT I'm just going to throw out there that I'm maybe one of the most dedicated? I think I've been here for every post (and commenting) so one day, when you get famous- please be sure to make me a button or somthing. Like "Best Groupie" or something.
ReplyDeleteAnyways. If you about to be homeless, make sure you get a shopping cart with wheels, man. ;) You'll be fine. Get one of those efficiency type things for the time being. I had a friend who lived there and it ended up being a ton nicer than the 1bedroom apt he got after. Plus, they are crazy cheap so you could save money for deposit and all that jazz for a new place.
I think it's your blog. You only think it's gone into music blog territory because you are mainly only blogging on Sundays- your music day. Which I love and look forward to. (seriously- the suspense of the last two sundays since I wasn't home was almost too much.) I think we all love personal Mr. O because you are awesome. You have a great writing style and you are able to describe what's ticking through your head and your heart in words, which let's be real, not many men can do. Props to you lover. But I think you should morph this into a personal/music blog. Seriously. Not only will writing (maybe regularly??) will give your practice for your new job (awesome btw) but it'll balance out your head. Trust me. If it worked for me and my sitch- it surely can work for you. :)
Everytime a door closes a window opens. And let's be honest climbing in and out of windows is always more fun then using door.
ReplyDeletesounds like you've got a LOT going on! yikes. if you ever need some real-time counsel, i'm on facebook a lot and i'm totally willing to chat :)
ReplyDeletei actually prefer reading personal blogs over general-topic blogsl, but i have loved the music sundays so don't stop the countdown!
@Allison:
ReplyDeleteI told you I would get you one when I visited Mount Rushmore (I knew at the time I wasn't moving there, so that's why I said visit). I can still do that when I go back this winter.
I will strive to achieve that balance.
@Annah:
You don't understand how happy it makes me that you noticed the reference. And I appreciate your expertise :)
@Teddi:
aching and swelling, that's an awesome combo. Thanks for the words.
@Lisa:
"To me music is such a personal thing anyway, so your constant music posts have always just acted as an extension of something personal that you've chosen to share with us."
--Thank you.
@Sara:
You would definitely get a button if I knew anything about that department. I'm glad it's building suspense, especially as we get into the top 20 (which coincidentally means the year is ending. Crazy). Let's hope you still love personal Mr O...
@Natalie:
When I read your response, all I could think was "well played."
@JSjov:
we should chat on facebook, when one of us isn't at work. It would be fun I bet. I think the verdict is in: add in more personal stuff!
I think when we were chatting about it I was still under the impression that you were moving there - so when you said "visit" I took that as visiting Mount Rushmore - not South Dakota. My bad. I can wait till winter :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your graduation. It sounds like with everything you are going though it was not easy to keep focused.
ReplyDeleteI am new to your blog, think that you should use every outlet possible to get personal things out of you and "vented" as you put it. Use music, Use your blog. In general am always more attracted to men who can express more than three emotions. (happy, horny, angry)
I also enjoy reading blogs that are more personal, that way sometimes I can relate and I don't feel so alone.
Dear Mr. O:
ReplyDeleteEven if you did something super retarted and/or ridiculous- I would still love personal Mr. O.
And if you come north this winter I swear to you- you better make an effort to visit me. I would totally drive because it? Would be my excuse to go shopping. ;)
Mr. O style status:
ReplyDelete*CONGRATS
*You can do it!
*Congrats again!
*:( if you need to talk let me know!
*You have so many projects going on.
*I approve of more personal posting, but know that it can be hard, do what you're comfortable with.
@Allison:
ReplyDeletehaha I was trying to play on words... and it worked :)
@Siren:
I like you, let's be friends.
@Sara:
Haha, I'm gonna have limited time, but it would be great to have *another* blogger meet up
@jeanette:
fun fact: you were the only one to mention the project. Maybe people won't be as excited about it as I am? Or maybe my pessimism will go away after I close this window.
Speaking of projects... :)
