Thank you so much to those who have kept up with me this week in my attempt to churn out all my thoughts into blog form before I depart for a while. This, alas, will be my last *written* post for a while. Remember those video things I was talking about? They start next Tuesday and will last... until they are done. I really don't know how long that will be. But hopefully you enjoy them.
As for other random things going on in my life:
*Going to a concert tonight (surprise, I know). Taking Back Sunday (yet another surprise), but it is at my rival's campus, the University of Alabama. Works out though, cuz we have some friends that made the (dumb) decision to go there. Tomorrow, West Virginia comes here, along with some friends from Montgomery so that should be fun. Then Sunday will consist of reading/NFL football. I love this weekend.
*I have been listening to a lot of random music lately. And a HUGE shoutout to jeanette for hooking me up so much through aim. We've been swapping music like drug dealers and I think I need an intervention. When I return, expect some major music posts.
*I've altered my diet. Not going on a diet, just altered. I realized there is a wedding coming up in December that I kind of want to look good for, so I'm trying a little something. To start off with, I am just cutting out the three worst things I consume -- pizza, doughnuts and sodas. Pizza is the hardest because it is the easiest, and cheapest, thing to eat around here. Wish me luck...
But now, onto the main event. I've noticed that if you want some good covers, just search "Live Lounge" from Radio 1. But don't do that, cuz then I will run out of stuff to surprise you guys with. The original song is by the kooks, and I'm not sure exactly how famous they are. Here, not really. but in other countries I could see the potential. But this song is kind of cool and catchy. But then Lily Allen comes along and just mesmerizes me. I have to admit this -- I'm in love with Lily Allen. I have been since the first day I saw the video for Smile. She is fiery, cute, and I LOVE her accent. I promise I would do stuff to make her mad just so she would yell at me in her accent, and then try my best to make up for it, just so she could be sweet in her accent. Is it bad I've actually thought of these things? Anyways, here is the song, "Naive."
Original Version by the Kooks
Cover Version by Lily Allen
In closing, I just want to say that though I will only be posting videos for a while, I should still be checking in on you guys. Hope you enjoy your weekend, as I should be enjoying mine.
Didn't like either of those. But I agree with you about Lily Allen. She makes me want to do all sorts of disgusting things to her. In a good way. Have you checked out The Hold Steady? I think you'd really like them.
ReplyDeleteI feel like I *just* started reading your blog and you are already taking a writing break. :( Boooo!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a fun, relaxing weekend you have planned-- have a great time @ the concert!
Good luck w/ the "diet"..I am sure eliminating those 3 things will make a big difference, even in just the way you feel, not look. Maybe just have pizza occasionally and in moderation...it tastes too good to cut out completely. :)
Radio 1's Live Lounge is pretty much the best thing ever...I love hearing all of the different covers. A lot of my favorite music is from British artists so I have been listening to a ton of British radio lately (never really listened to the radio back home).
I sort of like Lily Allen (her music is growing on me) but I much prefer The Kooks version. :)
Soooo anyway, I will watch the videos when you post them, but hurry up and come back to regular posting please! :D
Good luck with the non-pizza eating. I tried that last week and failed miserably and had 3 this week...its hard!!
ReplyDeleteThe Kooks first album was pretty big over here. If you like Naive try their fisrt album it's from 'inside out/inside in' Their 2nd album wasn't quite as big a hit. I can send them both to you if you want? If you like British Indie I have zillions and zillions of bands you might like
@TeH:
ReplyDeleteya know, I appreciate bloggers like you. You saw that I loved one of those, but you still gave yours that you didn't, and I promise that's not sarcasm, I just appreciate honesty. But like I've said in the past, though I feel I am always pushing music, I love when people recommend some to me so as soon as I am done typing I am searching for them
@Lisa:
did I ever tell you I love your comments? Because I do. But yea, hopefully you see that I know I'm not delusional and just cutting those things is going to be a drastic change, but I feel like it's a kickstart, ya know? And I really do want to have some every now and then, but I feel like I have committed to December and I want to follow through with a goal for once, haha. And you don't know how happy it makes me to know that someone is going to click view when I post my videos
@MissH:
I only have a couple of their tracks, but I would like to give them more of a listen so I would totally be up for receiving them from you. Not sure how to go about doing that but my e-mail just in case is okarmmr@auburn.edu
cool okay, let me see if I can stick the files in a zip so its smaller and I'll email them over
ReplyDeleteThis time of year seems to be so busy for everyone! Normally I'd be a little bummed about that blog break but I'm not gunna lie, even if you didn't take a break I'm so busy myself I'd hardly be able to keep up. As for diets. They fucking suck. I've been trying to cut redbull and coffee out of my diet on and off for like a year--pretty much impossible. But I am weak, so best of luck to you! As for your music, I am work and youtube is banned, but I will try to make a point of listening to them when I get home, because you seem to have excellent taste in music. Oh and as for Taking Back Sunday-fucking jealous.
ReplyDeleteSome of my favorite nights consist of me and some of my friends swapping and listening to music. That is how I discovered MUSE and since it is my favorite band now, I have those nights to thank. Have you ever heard of Under The Influence of Giants? In the Clouds is a good one. ;)
